Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Product Development Leader for Childrenswear to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operational execution of the buying strategy for Country Road Childrenswear.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the buying team for Childrenswear, ensuring product assortments meet financial, customer, and brand objectives through close collaboration with the buying, design, planning, and production teams.
  • Identify emerging customer demands in fashion to drive innovation in product curation, establishing a compelling and differentiated assortment that resonates with target customers.
  • Display entrepreneurial approach to the business, proactively seeking opportunities to improve the product range and drive financial performance.
Key Accountabilities
  1. Develop and execute buying strategies that align with business goals and market trends.
  2. Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products and maintain high-quality standards.
  3. Collaborate with the design and production teams to develop and implement new product ranges.
  4. Provide coaching and development support to junior buyers to enhance their product selection and commercial acumen.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience in management, buying or merchandising with a proven track record of delivering successful buying strategies in a fast-paced retail or omnichannel environment.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to develop and execute buying strategies that align with business goals and market trends.
  • Strong understanding of financial metrics, including revenue, margin, and inventory management, to drive profitable buying decisions.
