Forest Monitoring Specialist

Key Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Forest Monitoring Specialist to contribute to the development of an open-data platform for monitoring forest structure, condition, and carbon stocks across Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the platform and national forest monitoring roadmap, sourcing relevant datasets, collaborating with project partners, aggregating and integrating diverse datasets for case study areas, applying machine learning techniques to estimate forest baselines and trends, and communicating findings through presentations, reports, and scientific publications.

Requirements:

  • PhD (or near completion) in environmental science, remote sensing, data science, or a related field
  • Experience managing large spatial datasets and applying machine learning techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present results to diverse audiences
