Strategic Collections Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking a senior risk professional to lead our enterprise-wide credit risk strategy for accounts in arrears. The role is responsible for developing and executing a collections strategy that optimises performance and loss recovery across our credit card and lending portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement segmentation strategies for delinquent accounts to enhance collections effectiveness and customer outcomes.
  • Lead key initiatives to modernise collections capabilities, including the use of AI, machine learning, and digital engagement tools through third-party vendors.
  • Optimise the organisation's debt sale strategy to maximise recoveries and minimise risk.

Vendor & Partnership Oversight:

  • Manage partnerships with outsourced debt collection agencies and third-party recovery providers.
  • Establish performance metrics and service level agreements (SLAs) for external partners.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and audits to ensure alignment with strategic goals and regulatory expectations.

Risk Management & Analytics:

  • Analyse delinquency data and performance trends to identify opportunities for strategy optimisations and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure robust governance and controls are in place for all collections-related risk activities.
  • Monitor portfolio performance versus budget and produce committee and board reporting and insights.

Regulatory & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulatory guidelines.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with Credit Risk, Product, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Technology teams to align collections strategies with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership and risk committees.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a numeric discipline or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in credit risk management, with a focus on collections and recoveries.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful collections strategies in a financial services environment.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors or outsourced service providers.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory requirements related to collections and credit risk.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
