About this role

We are seeking a skilled Environmental Strategy Lead to drive our collection and recycling initiatives in Australia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve recycling rates and collections in Australia, focusing on the value chain transformation for Liquid Packaging Cartons (LPCs)
  • Establish partnerships with external stakeholders, including regulations, DfR, recyclability awareness, collection/sorting infrastructure, recycling capacity/solution, and end-market recycled materials
  • Identify investment project needs and propose operational plans, defining required resources and outlining long-term ambitions
  • Lead the execution of collection/sorting/recycling investment projects and value chain activities to deliver targets in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Manage strategic projects, such as co-investment projects with MRFs/Recyclers, according to internal processes
  • Ensure compliance with recycling regulations/targets in Australia
  • Represent the company in industry associations related to sustainability and propose opportunities for Corporate Affairs
  • Provide data for reliable accounting and reporting of recycling rates and lead data gathering in Australia
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in waste collection/recycling industry, familiar with relevant regulations and trends in Australia
  • Ability to engage cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, including Managing Director, Corporate Affairs, Market Communications, Government, Recyclers, Associations, etc.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills to engage partners, drive priorities, and meet deadlines
  • A self-starter with passion for collection & recycling and demonstrable experience in strategy planning and turning strategy into actions
  • Commercially minded, viewing problems/solutions through a business mindset, ability to bridge technical expertise and business strategy
  • Ability to approach problems and situations with a logical and systematic perspective
  • Fluency in English is a must
