Lead Mental Health Nurse Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Mental Health Nurse Manager to provide operational direction of the ward, ensuring efficient and effective management and promoting high-quality clinical care for our patients.

As a departmental leader, you will play a key role in shaping the hospital's management team, providing support to the Director of Nursing and the General Manager.


  • Strong leadership and people management skills

  • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment

Responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management
  • Coordinating the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based
  • Ensuring the delivery of excellent patient and family centered care in a team focused environment
  • Providing guidance, mentoring and support to your team
  • Accountability for the effective management of human, financial and material resources
  • Undertaking direct patient care as required
  • Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
  • Current Registration with AHPRA
  • Registered Nurse with at least 5 years' experience in inpatient mental health settings Knowledge of NSQHS/ACHS Standards
  • Understanding of HoNOS
  • Proven experience building and leading high performing teams with a service excellence approach
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive working relations with a wide range of diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge base in labour management
  • Understand the requirements of private health funding
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS office and various data bases
