Senior Receptionist Job Description

We are seeking a warm and intuitive Senior Receptionist to provide exceptional service to our patients.

This role is crucial in contributing to the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of the practice. As a Senior Receptionist, you will be responsible for assisting the Practice Manager with operational excellence, leading the team when necessary, and overseeing clinicians' appointment books.

You will welcome and provide high-quality service to patients in a friendly and professional manner, answering phone calls, handling patient queries, and supporting our healthcare professionals. This includes maintaining up-to-date relevant clinical records and liaising with external providers.

In addition, you will train and support junior reception staff, adhere to practice policies and procedures, and identify opportunities for improvements and driving change.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Practice Manager with operational excellence
  • Lead the team when the Practice Manager is away
  • Oversee clinicians' appointment books, including booking and rescheduling
  • Welcoming and providing high-quality service to patients in a friendly and professional manner
  • Answering phone calls and handling patient queries
  • Supporting our healthcare professionals, including maintaining up-to-date relevant clinical records
  • Liaising and corresponding with external providers such as specialists, nursing homes, allied health professionals, pathology, and imaging clinics
  • Training and supporting junior reception staff
  • Adhering to practice policies and procedures at all times
  • Administrative support and other ad hoc duties
