About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Agronomist to join our team at Elders, a leading Australian agribusiness with a rich history spanning 185 years. As a trusted advisor, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert agronomic technical advice, products, and services to our clients, helping them achieve success and sustainability in their agricultural endeavors.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Client Support: Provide onsite agronomic and technical support to clients, recommending appropriate products and services to strengthen their business.
  2. Financial Objectives: Achieve allocated financial objectives and assist with product forecasting and inventory management.
  3. Staff Development: Promote branch staff upskilling by providing technical advice and product recommendations.
  4. Client Relationships: Develop and foster professional relationships with a targeted group of existing and new clients.
  5. Sales Opportunities: Identify and cultivate new agronomic sales opportunities for prospective and existing clients.
  6. Promotional Activities: Maximise promotional opportunities, including assisting at field days and farmer meetings with demonstrations and trial work.
  7. Rural Products Sales: Be part of the rural products sales team to build strong client relationships, promote beneficial products, and enhance business success.
  8. Branch Operations: Help manage branch retail operations to exceed targets and monitor rural products performance against key metrics.
  9. New Business Opportunities: Source new business opportunities to expand market share and assist in setting retail sales targets and business planning.
  10. Product Expertise: Provide product expertise, oversee sales transactions, individual and branch targets while supporting national initiatives.
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Agronomist who possesses:

  1. Relevant Qualifications: Relevant agronomy qualifications and a tertiary qualification in agricultural science or a related field.
  2. Industry Knowledge: Smart, resourceful, and able to embrace industry research and new technology.
  3. Client Focus: Passionate about effecting real change for both your clients and your community – with building and maintaining relationships at the core of your work.
  4. Sales Experience: Proven track record in sales and previous experience in an agronomy role.
  5. Customer Service: Able to provide high-level customer service and cultivate relationships with potential and current growers.
  6. Flexibility: Thrive in a flexible and agile working environment.
