We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Homelessness Support Specialist to join our team at Samaritans, a service of Newcastle Anglican. As a key member of our team, you will work with young people aged 12-24 who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the Lower Hunter and Newcastle regions.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide case management services, including intake, assessment, and support planning. You will work collaboratively with young people to identify their needs and develop individual plans to achieve stable housing and independence.
In addition to case management, you will also be responsible for providing outreach services, supporting crisis youth accommodation, and delivering programs to prevent homelessness and sustain tenancies.
We are looking for someone with a strong background in social work, community services, or youth work, with experience in case management and strengths-based practice. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of young people and their families.
