Senior Governance & Compliance Manager

The Senior Governance and Compliance Manager is a high-level leader responsible for ensuring the organization operates within a robust framework that meets both academic and corporate obligations. This role sets strategy and oversees the implementation of regulatory compliance systems, governance structures, and quality assurance processes.

This position ensures alignment with Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards), ESOS Act, TEQSA Act, CRICOS, ASQA, and other applicable legislation. The individual will act as the primary liaison to regulators and key advisor to the CEO, CFO, Governing Council, and Academic Board.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead ongoing compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit required documents to regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory updates, advising on implications and required actions.
  • Maintain institutional records and evidence repositories.

Academic & Corporate Governance:

  • Provide secretariat support to governing bodies.
  • Develop and maintain governance structures and policies.
  • Ensure alignment between academic and corporate governance.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Oversee institutional quality frameworks and risk registers.
  • Implement student feedback systems and performance indicators.
  • Advise on potential impacts of non-compliance and emerging risks.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Significant senior experience in governance, compliance, or quality assurance.
  • In-depth knowledge of higher education regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in managing regulatory submissions and audits.

Working Environment:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
