Job Title: Governance Risk Manager

The post holder will be responsible for managing and implementing day-to-day governance activities, including subject access requests, freedom of information act, GDPR, data security and protection toolkit, data protection impact assessments, and information sharing agreements.

The successful candidate will act as deputy data protection officer, providing expert advice to the senior information risk owner, Caldicott guardian, and wider staff.

  • Administrate the Ulysses system, monitoring SARs and governance incidents, and carrying out investigations when required.
  • Identify and escalate data breach incidents and manage external reporting where necessary.
  • Lead the development, delivery, and monitoring of governance training, including cyber security and data protection.
  • Implement methods to capture and report on data that supports governance, enhancing service quality and safety, and achieving key performance indicators.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and advice across all aspects of governance to patients, service users, members of the public, and colleagues at all levels.
  • Manage the identification, assessment, reporting, and management of risk in relation to governance, including regular reporting to the SIRO/head of quality and safety.

About You

  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience in an information governance and data protection field.
  • GDPR/data protection qualification or willingness to work towards.
  • Significant experience of implementing DPIAs, data processing and sharing agreements within a healthcare organisation.
  • Experience of leading an information governance framework, including handling Freedom of Information Act requirements, information security, IG statutory compliance, records management, and Caldicott guardian issues.
  • Experience of data security and protection toolkit requirements and information security management systems (ISMS).
  • Decision-making and prioritising in a healthcare setting.
  • Managing a team.
