Job Description:

The role of Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 in Palliative Care involves providing advanced clinical expertise and leadership in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses. This includes assessing complex needs, initiating appropriate interventions, and advocating for best practice in palliative care delivery.

Working collaboratively with patients, families, carers, and a multidisciplinary team, the CNS Grade 2 facilitates collaborative care planning to achieve clearly defined goals and optimal outcomes. This encompasses symptom management, psychosocial support, and end-of-life care coordination.

The successful candidate will draw on their advanced clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills to ensure that care is safe, compassionate, quality, and culturally responsive.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with relevant post-registration qualifications; at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area; post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the employing organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in providing complex care in the relevant field.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced-based nursing care.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe, compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
