About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Operations Specialist to join our team at Macquarie University. As a key member of our IT department, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining cloud-based systems, with a focus on Kubernetes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters to ensure availability, scalability, and reliability of cloud services.
- Monitor cluster health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance to maintain high-quality service delivery.
- Implement security best practices for Kubernetes environments to protect against potential threats.
- Work with cross-functional teams to provision and manage resources using cloud providers such as AWS and Azure.
- Set up networking, storage, and compute components, and automate infrastructure tasks using tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Respond to incidents promptly, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with Applications and Operations teams to resolve issues affecting cloud services.
- Participate in Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline development for application deployment, ensuring smooth releases and updates using Git, ArgoCD, or other CI/CD tools.
- Set up monitoring solutions to track system performance, create alerts, and dashboards for proactive issue detection.
- Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps, and share knowledge with team members and contribute to internal documentation.
About You
You will have experience as an IT professional with a strong understanding of Kubernetes fundamentals and experience deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments. You should have knowledge of IT service management concepts and experience applying them in an enterprise work environment supporting both cloud and hybrid on-premises infrastructure configurations.
You will also have knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems, Linux skills, and understanding of network fundamentals. Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, Podman, JIB is required to perform well in this role.
