Role Overview

As a Senior Banking Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability and efficiency of the financial system. This involves performing prudential supervision and risk assessment across a defined group of supervised banking and payments organisations.

The Role
  • You will contribute to policy reform by providing insightful analysis and recommendations on regulatory frameworks.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, including risk specialists and policy divisions, to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as government departments, regulatory agencies, and industry associations.
  • Assess the quality of management, strategies, practices, and systems of supervised organisations.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Identify and raise issues and developments through appropriate channels.
  2. Apply a deep understanding of frameworks, standards, legislation, codes, and the risks they seek to mitigate.
  3. Examine the internal structure and business relationships of supervised organisations, focusing on high-risk areas.
  4. Engage with supervised organisations to assess their compliance with prudential standards and suitability for licensing.
  5. Contribute to the development of policies and regulations through collaborative engagement with stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of the banking sector, prudential framework, and/or payments.
  • Excellent financial analysis, investigative, and research skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to develop solutions for complex issues.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with key stakeholders.
  • Strong priority management skills.
  • Good judgement and strategic awareness.
  • Team player with a positive mindset and energetic approach.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.

To succeed in this role, you must be an Australian citizen eligible for a Baseline Security clearance.
