The Communications Specialist is tasked with formulating strategic communication plans to effectively inform and guide the organization on optimal methods to engage and inform both the community and internal staff on significant matters. This role encompasses all communication channels, including social media, intranet, website, media releases, and more.

This position requires delivering high-quality customer service and creating value for the community.

The Council will also establish an eligibility list from this recruitment process, which may be utilized to fill additional Communications roles.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide expert advice to stakeholders on all communication matters impacting the Central Coast Council and support the execution of staff engagement initiatives across the organization. Design and execute annual communication campaigns, coordinating multiple communication channels while adhering to a reputation management framework. Skillfully plan, prepare, and produce a diverse array of Council materials, including newspaper columns, media statements, display advertisements, brochures, fact sheets, briefing notes, speech notes, and manage digital communication activities such as eNews uploads, social media, website, and intranet content.

About You:

Ideally holding a degree in Communications, Media, Marketing, or a related field, you possess substantial contemporary experience in a similar capacity within a large and complex organization with a significant public profile; You have a comprehensive understanding of various communication channels and bring a strategic and innovative mindset that ensures your solutions align with business objectives; Your skills in stakeholder management and your ability to influence and negotiate effectively are key strengths; You thrive in a collaborative and creative team environment but can also deliver results independently as needed; You are adept at managing your time effectively under pressure.
