Central Coast Council is dedicated to promoting equal opportunity employment. We strive to create a workplace that values equity, diversity, and respect for all employees.

Nestled on the northern fringe of Sydney and just an hour's drive from Newcastle, the Central Coast is recognized as one of the finest places in Australia to live and work.

Currently, the Central Coast is among the fastest-growing regions in NSW, boasting the third largest Local Government Area (LGA) in the state and the sixth largest in Australia.

The Communications Officer plays a crucial role in formulating strategic communication plans that inform and guide the organization on the most effective ways to engage and inform our community, as well as our internal teams, on significant matters. This role encompasses all communication channels, including social media, intranet, website, media releases, and more.

This position is essential for delivering high-quality customer service and generating value for the community.

The Council will also establish an eligibility list from this recruitment process, which may be utilized to fill other Communications roles.

Key Responsibilities of this Role Include:

Provide expert advice to stakeholders on all communication matters impacting CCC and support the implementation of staff engagement initiatives across the Council. Plan and execute annual communication campaigns, coordinating multiple communication channels while adhering to a reputation management framework. Accurately plan, prepare, and create a diverse range of CCC materials, including newspaper columns, media statements, display advertisements, brochures, fact sheets, briefing notes, speech notes, and engage in digital communication activities such as uploading eNews, social media, website, and intranet content.

About You:

Ideally, you hold a degree in Communications, Media, Marketing, or a related field, with substantial contemporary experience in a similar role within a large and complex organization with a significant public profile. You possess experience across a comprehensive range of communication channels and bring a strategic and innovative mindset that ensures your solutions align with business objectives. Your stakeholder management abilities and capacity to influence and negotiate effectively are key strengths. You thrive in a collaborative and creative team environment but can also deliver results independently as needed. You are adept at managing your time effectively under pressure.
