About the Role

QIC Australia seeks a Governance Expert to support its Corporate Secretariat & Governance team in Brisbane on a permanent basis.

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives, ensuring compliance, and enhancing governance practices across the organisation.

This is an opportunity for a seasoned governance professional to thrive in a supportive environment with a focus on delivering commercially viable results.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Serve as Secretary for Board, Committee, Management, and product-specific meetings, including arranging, attending, and recording minutes.
  • Facilitate meeting paper preparation and distribution, as well as internal management forums.
  • Provide trusted advice to directors on governance matters, fiduciary obligations, and legal implications of decisions.
  • Liaise between shareholding Ministers and non-executive Directors.
  • Maintain corporate records and oversee regulatory filings.
  • Ensure boards have resources and advice for effective corporate governance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly organised and experienced governance professional with a strong background in corporate secretarial functions.

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business or Law, with at least 8 years of post-qualification experience in financial services or funds management.
  • Expertise in corporate governance, with a deep understanding of national and international legislative and regulatory environments.
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across divisions.
  • Skilled at managing corporate reporting and policy requirements, ensuring compliance and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Strong commercial problem-solving capabilities, including issue identification, options analysis, and sound judgment.
