Lead Structural Engineer Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled structural engineer at Associate Director level to join our team in Melbourne. This role will involve providing technical leadership within the Australian transport structures team and contributing to the development of bridges and structures.


Job Description
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and direction, developing design criteria, calculations, plans, and specifications for transport structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, gantries and tunnels.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering with a focus on bridges and transport structures. They will be responsible for leading design activities, managing complex projects, and collaborating closely with local, national, and global teams to deliver integrated solutions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design activities associated with transport structures.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction.
  • Develop design criteria, calculations, plans, and specifications.
  • Manage the development of structural asset management deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with local, national, and global teams.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, able to work effectively in multidisciplinary and diverse teams. They will also have high-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
  • Chartered membership of Engineers Australia (Structures) and listing on the National Engineering Register.
  • Registered Professional Engineer Victoria (RPEV).
  • Ability and commitment to obtain Proof Engineer pre-qualification from the Victoria Department of Transport and Planning.

Additional desirable qualifications include experience with structural and asset management software tools such as Midas Civil, SpaceGass, Strand 7, SBD, and Microsoft Office suite.
