
Rural Census Outreach Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Rural Census Outreach Specialist.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in maximising participation in the Australian Census, which is crucial to understanding how our nation is changing.
The Census of Population and Housing provides a comprehensive snapshot of Australia, telling the story of our growth and development.
As a Rural Census Outreach Specialist, you will be responsible for connecting stakeholders and community members in regional and remote areas with the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
Your key responsibilities include:
- Planning and Delivering Outreach Activities: Plan, coordinate, and deliver Census outreach activities for your assigned region.
- Maintaining Engagement Records: Maintain a record of engagement activities via the ABS Stakeholder Management System.
- Developing Engagement Plans: Develop, update, and review engagement plans for your area of responsibility.
- Promoting Census Participation: Promote participation in the Census through community visits, promotional activities, and presentations.
- Building Community Networks: Connect with the community, establish networks, and maintain those relationships.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with other Census and ABS staff in your area, providing important cultural considerations and/or area-level intelligence.
- Gathering Support: Gather support for the Census from Local Government and community organisations, as well as key service providers.
- Providing In-Field Assistance: Provide in-field assistance when required for Census operational activities.
- Maintaining a Safe Working Environment: Maintain a safe working environment, including when working from home or travelling in remote areas.
- Completing Administrative Tasks: Complete administration forms, such as timesheets, and other duties as directed.
- Storing Census Materials: Store Census promotional materials securely.
- Providing Regular Updates: Provide regular updates to the Remote Operations Management team.
