Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources professional to join our team as an Assistant Director Human Resources TPS. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Human Resources activities for Tasmania Prison Service (TPS), providing high-level advice and guidance to managers and staff, and leading the development and implementation of a TPS workforce strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level advice, coaching, and guidance to managers and staff on human resource matters, including work, health, and safety, performance, and workplace behavior.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a TPS workforce strategy that aligns with the broader Department of Justice People Strategy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all levels of the TPS and build the capability and capacity of supervisors and managers to facilitate the local management of human resource matters.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality recruitment, rostering, and leave management, and training and development services for the TPS.
  • Represent the TPS at relevant tribunals and commissions where required and in negotiations with industrial and other advocates on employee management issues.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Proven experience in human resources management, including work, health, and safety, performance, and workplace behavior.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to provide high-level advice and guidance to managers and staff.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies, including the Tasmanian State Service Award - General Stream Band 8.
