Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our public policy and government relations efforts in Queensland. As Manager Public Policy and Government Relations QLD, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to support BHP's integrated policy, political engagement, and campaign program.

This leadership role requires deep policy expertise, the ability to cultivate influential relationships across the political and regulatory landscape, and a strong track record of driving policy, advocacy, and reputational outcomes.

You will work closely with the Head of Corporate Affairs Queensland to ensure alignment with asset and organizational priorities across both state and national contexts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of BHP's public policy and government relations strategy within Queensland
  • Monitor and analyze political, policy, and regulatory developments to anticipate risk and opportunity
  • Build and maintain trusted, influential relationships with political stakeholders, government officials, and policy influencers at state and national levels
  • Represent BHP in high-level political and policy forums, advocating for outcomes that support long-term business success and social value creation
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record in government relations, advocacy, and strategic engagement
  • Deep expertise in navigating complex political and regulatory environments
  • The ability to influence outcomes through relationships, evidence, and timing
  • Tertiary qualifications in public policy, economics, political science, law, or commerce
