Job Description:

The Senior Project Officer Government Relations and Advocacy supports the agency's Commissioners, senior executives, and broader agency in their engagement with government, Parliament, policy departments, and other key external stakeholders. This role entails providing administrative support to the team, managing communications and engagement with internal and external stakeholders, and coordinating events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administrative Support: The successful candidate will undertake forward planning and support the tracking and planning of key team priorities.
  • Communications and Engagement: They will work with internal and external stakeholders to prepare for Board and Committee presentations, brief senior executives, Commissioners, and government, and assist in the production of speeches, submissions, and other agency publications.
  • Workforce Capability: The role involves supporting people to grow capability through process review and development, knowledge management, systems and data, and Commissioner induction.
  • Leadership: The Senior Project Officer will supervise and support junior staff in the team, branch, and broader organisation.
  • Events Coordination: They will prepare for key stakeholder meetings or events throughout the year.

  • Experience in a relevant field such as administration, regulation, projects, communications, and engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, and prioritise a demanding workload.
  • Ability to engage and work collaboratively with others, including influencing, persuading, and informing people.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation and collaboration with team members and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work across different workstreams and tasks, managing various requests from different sources.
