About Us

CBGU JV is a joint venture between CPB Contractors, BAM, Ghella, and UGL, delivering the Tunnel, Stations, and Development (TSD) package for Brisbane's Cross River Rail.

Cross River Rail is a new 10.2-kilometre rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, featuring 5.9 kilometres of tunnel under the Brisbane River and CBD.

Our team will deliver the underground works, including tunnelling, four new underground stations, and associated above-ground entry canopies and precincts.

About the Opportunity

As a Design Manager, you will report to the Design Director and work closely with the Rail Delivery Manager.

You will support the delivery, review, and change management of a robust and cost-effective design for the allocated rail works, meeting the scope and technical requirements within budget and program constraints.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage rail-related design package reviews, optimisations, and changes by relevant design consultants.
  2. Manage all relevant design interfaces.
  3. Facilitate design coordination meetings.
  4. Ensure safety, constructability, and budget are effectively built into the design and promote improvements.
  5. Perform technical reviews of design documentation.
  6. Prepare documentation for project-related Scheduled Corridor Access System (SCAS) closures, Rail Construction Phase Services (CPS), and Request for Information (RFI) correspondence and communication management.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction or a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in rail design and design management in large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • A good understanding of Queensland Rail requirements and regulations.
  • Interpretation and application of contracts and scope.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
