Job Role Overview:

Airfield Operations Lead Position

The Airfield Operations Lead is a key position responsible for supporting the Airfield Operations Manager and the wider Airfield Safety Officer (ASO) team in delivering airfield operational functions. This role plays a critical part in promoting a strong 'all of airfield' safety culture, ensuring accountability, and adherence to airfield operational policies from all airfield users.

This position will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that quality reporting is high, and actions are taken accordingly. Additionally, it will be responsible for follow-up with Ramp users where ASO actions have not met the required outcome.

The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of Airfield Operations, Ground Handler Activities, and processes. They must possess strong stakeholder and influencing skills, as well as the ability to interpret data and translate it into operational effectiveness.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Upkeep of ASO Skillsets: Predominantly using Airside Tracker, this role ensures that the ASO skillsets are up-to-date and relevant to current airfield operational requirements.
  • Quality Reporting and Actions: Ensuring that quality reporting is high, and actions are taken accordingly to address any issues or concerns.
  • Ramp User Follow-up: Following up with Ramp users where ASO actions have not met the required outcome, to ensure that airfield operational policies are adhered to.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Using data and other intel to ensure that ASO tasks and focus areas are matched to current risks on the airfield.
  • On-site Compliance: Ensuring compliance with airfield safety and operational policies among all airfield users.
  • GSE Parking Auditing: Regularly auditing GSE parking to ensure compliance with airfield regulations.
  • User Adherence: Ensuring user adherence to airfield safety and operational policies, including leading ongoing removal of defective GSE.
  • Turnaround Audits and GSE Checks: Auditing ASO turnaround audits and GSE checks to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • GHA Behaviour Changes: Active involvement in GHA behaviour changes to promote a positive airfield culture.
