A leading global fund manager is seeking a highly skilled Institutional Business Development Manager to join its Sydney-based business development and sales team. This role will be responsible for growing the company's institutional client base through exceptional sales and relationship management capabilities.
Salary
The estimated annual salary for this position is AU$120,000 - AU$180,000, depending on experience.
About the Role
This mid-level BDM will work closely with the Head of Institutional Sales to cover institutional clients such as superannuation funds, asset managers, private banks, and asset consultants. Key responsibilities include:
- Clients and Relationships: Excellent client sales capability and relationship management capability.
- Investment Process: Excellent understanding of the investment process for actively managed funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and the ongoing management of underlying assets.
- Asset Classes: Understanding of various asset classes from equities, fixed income, and alternative assets.
- Product Structures: Understanding of plain-vanilla product structures and complex product structures that use derivatives.
- Sales Campaigns: Ability to carry out effective and measurable sales campaigns.
- Investment Strategy: Conduct investment strategy with fund manager selection teams and asset allocation teams.
- Financial Analysis: Monitor financial performance of underlying companies the funds invest in (i.e., analysis of investee earnings growth, profit margins, balance sheet information).
- Fund Performance: Monitor and ensure funds perform in line with investment objectives and remain within mandate.
- Fund Distributions: Understanding of fund distributions and their components.
- Internal Collaboration: Liaise with internal colleagues such as the Portfolio Management and Investment Strategy Teams.
- Client Education: Understanding of ETF capital markets to promote client education.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- 4 years or more Asset management industry work experience required – Sales Support, BDM, RM etc.
- Practical knowledge of ETFs and general market structure.
- Ability to make decisions and act quickly in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience using specialized financial software, such as Morningstar Direct.
- Experience developing Excel models and using other Office applications.
