Job Description

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Operational Risk Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist advice, assurance, and acceptance/approval of decisions made across the Chief Operating Office (COO).

The role will focus on the Operations functions supporting Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) business, with a key responsibility of leading risk management and delivering better customer outcomes through effective, practical insights, risk management frameworks, efficient governance, timely fact-based reporting, and enabling the effective operation of the COO Operational Risk & Compliance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent, pragmatic, and value-adding compliance and operational risk advice, risk in change assessments, assurance, and approval/acceptance for the risk associated with the support provided by the Operations function to the IB&M business.
  • Monitor and report 3LoA activities to the Executive Manager, including BAU management of the Risk Management Approach, Compliance Management Framework, and the Operational Risk Management Framework in support of CPS 220.
  • Provide input to the Executive Manager into regulatory submissions, attestations, incident notification, regulatory consultations, regulatory change implementation, and other matters as required under CBA's internal frameworks, policies, and governance.
  • Act as the lead Compliance SME for stakeholder engagements and provide constructive challenge across all levels.
  • Contribute to the oversight and monitoring of key operational controls, issues, and incidents, risk in change, and licensing and obligations, risk acceptance.
  • Support the appropriate identification, escalation, and reporting of all related compliance and operational risk matters to the relevant stakeholders, including the relevant NFRCs, your EM/GM, and to the Technology and Operations CRO.
