About the Role:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Admissions and Waitlist Officer to join our team at The Royal Children's Hospital. As the first point of contact for parents and carers, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring a smooth and efficient admissions process for our young patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain accurate waitlists for elective surgeries and procedures, prioritizing patients based on clinical need.
  2. Admit patients for surgery, ensuring all paperwork is complete and liaising with families on the day of admission.
  3. Collaborate with medical and nursing staff, the Hospital Bed Manager, and various departments to coordinate admissions and bed allocation.
  4. Ensure accurate and up-to-date patient information in our electronic medical record system (Epic) and Patient Administration System (IBA).
  5. Provide exceptional customer service to families, addressing their questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
Requirements:
  1. A minimum of 2 years' experience in a healthcare admissions or waitlist management role.
  2. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for patient-centred care.
  4. A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
  5. Proficient in using computer applications, including experience with electronic medical record systems a plus.
