At AKQA, we're looking for a Strategic Creative Director to join our team. As a key member of our creative team, you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of innovative ideas that drive business results.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in art direction and a portfolio that showcases outstanding campaigns and projects. You should be abreast with the latest advertising and creative trends, techniques, and new developments.

Your salary will be around $120,000 per year, commensurate with your experience and location in Sydney or Melbourne. You'll work in a hybrid WFH model, with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday based in the studio each week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of creative ideas that meet client briefs and exceed expectations.
  • Take ownership of creative, artistic, and cultural trends and use them in a manner relevant to the brief, the brand, and its users.
  • Direct all aspects of art on a brand, taking into account the brand and its users, and exploit opportunities for high creative output.
  • Work jointly with a Copywriter to ensure correct briefing of production companies, directors, and other partners to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Direct and supervise suppliers and internal studio on all print and production work and take responsibility with the Copywriter for the quality of finished work across mediums.
  • Participate and collaborate with Account teams on new business pitches and strengthen client relationships by attending client meetings as required to increase sales and brand building.

Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • At least 3 years of experience in art direction.
  • A portfolio of creative work that showcases outstanding campaigns and projects of varying nature.
  • Abreast with the latest advertising and creative trends, techniques, and new developments.
  • Commercial skills to understand client business and industry contexts.
  • Strong presentation and objection handling skills.
