Key Role of the Operations Manager

The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient management of intermodal rail operations across South Australia.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a safety culture and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including COR and Quality standards
  • Effectively allocate resources, manage drivers, and oversee subcontracting partners to optimize operational performance
  • Oversee scheduled maintenance activities and continuously review assets against schedule to minimize downtime
  • Ensure exceptional customer service from SA Intermodal Operations through prompt resolution of customer issues
  • Conduct regular yard walks, monitor driver tasks, including coupling checks, and ensure MT Data compliance for tasks such as pre-start checks and fatigue management

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within rail transport operations
  • Strong commitment to safe working practices, understanding of COR and Heavy Vehicle Compliance
  • Experience with Transport Management Systems, SAP, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to develop and achieve operational and contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Self-motivated and able to lead confidently to drive outcomes
