Aboriginal Policy Expert

The Koori Justice Unit is seeking a seasoned Lead Policy Specialist to provide critical support in coordinating policy and work across internal business units.
This position plays a leading role in implementing and monitoring the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement - Burra Lotjpa Dunguludja, working closely with the Aboriginal Justice Policy Reform Unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing expert policy advice to support the implementation of key policies and frameworks in Aboriginal Affairs
- Cordinating with the Aboriginal Justice Policy Reform Unit to develop future iterations of agreements and reforms driven by the Aboriginal Justice Caucus
- Working closely with internal teams to contribute to whole-of-government policy frameworks in Aboriginal Affairs
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community, as well as experience in advocacy and delivering policy and legislative reform through community consultation and targeted engagement.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated expertise in policy development and implementation in Aboriginal Affairs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant tertiary qualification in law, public policy, or Aboriginal affairs
