**Job Title:** Clinical Nurse Consultant, Surgical Program

Our organisation is seeking an experienced clinical nurse consultant to provide expert clinical leadership and consultation in the assessment, management, and education of patients with ostomies, continence issues, and trial of void strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and operational management of Stomal Therapy and Continence referrals.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Educating and training healthcare professionals and patients on best practices in ostomy care, continence management, and skin integrity.
  • Employing a high level of clinical knowledge and judgement to ensure superior delivery of holistic care to inpatients.
  • Management of the nurse-led Stomal Therapy Outpatient Clinic and Trial of Void Clinic.
  • Participation in clinical audits, quality improvement, and research projects related to trial of void protocols and continence and ostomy care.
Requirements:
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the relevant regulatory body.
  • At least 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience and approved post-registration nursing qualifications relevant to Stomal Therapy/Continence Nursing or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability working in a multidisciplinary health care team with a comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and current nursing issues.
  • Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in daily practice.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads within a complex environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic healthcare environment.

They should be able to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals, to achieve positive outcomes.
