Clinical Nurse Consultant, Surgical Program

This role offers expert clinical leadership and consultation in the assessment, management, and education of patients with ostomies, continence issues, and trial of void strategies.

About the Role

As a Stomal Therapy and Continence Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will lead the operational and nursing management of Stomal therapy and Continence referrals. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care, educate and train healthcare professionals and patients on best practices in ostomy care, continence management, and skin integrity, employing a high level of clinical knowledge and judgement to ensure superior delivery of holistic care to inpatients.

  • Management of the nurse-led Stomal Therapy Outpatient Clinic and Trial of Void Clinic.
  • Participation in clinical audits, quality improvement, and research projects related to Trial of Void protocols and continence and ostomy care.
About You

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with at least 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience and approved post-registration nursing qualifications relevant to Stomal Therapy/Continence Nursing or such other qualifications deemed appropriate.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability working in a multidisciplinary health care team with a comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and current nursing issues.
  • Evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads within a complex environment.
