We are seeking a seasoned Health and Safety Professional to join our team within the mining industry. This role offers an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, working closely with a large workforce. Key responsibilities include promoting a robust safety culture, providing practical support to site operations, and ensuring compliance with NSW workplace health and safety regulations.

About the Role

Title: Health and Safety Specialist

Location: Regional NSW

Roster: 5/2/4/3 or 8/6

Reports to: Senior Safety Advisor (Team of 20 in H&S)

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver health and safety services at a large mining operation
  • Be a visible safety presence in the field - A hands-on work environment
  • Develop and implement site safety improvement plans
  • Promote and lead a zero-harm work culture
  • Provide health and safety training and assurance to site employees
  • Investigate incidents and take corrective actions
  • Conduct investigations into health and hygiene issues and report on findings
  • Facilitate site safety audits
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations
  • Maintain safety systems and procedures
Requirements
  • Proven experience in health, safety, and hygiene in an underground mining environment (Preferred)
  • Experience operating in a heavy industrial setting
  • Expertise in workplace investigations
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to identify mining hazards
  • Familiarity with NSW regulations
