About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a fixed-term Registered Nurse Level 2 position within the Cardiothoracic Neurosurgical (CTN) ward at Calvary Hobart. This facility is distinguished as the only private hospital in the state offering Cardiothoracic Surgery. The CTN ward specializes in providing step-down care for patients recovering from Critical Care (CCU) after undergoing procedures such as Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts, Valve Replacements, and Thoracic Surgery. Additionally, the ward caters to pre and post-operative care for patients who have undergone Craniotomy and various spinal surgeries.

The CTN ward comprises 22 beds, characterized by high occupancy rates and a dynamic patient turnover. This role is ideal for a motivated Registered Nurse with strong clinical expertise who is ready to take on a leadership position, collaborating closely with the Nurse Unit Manager to support staff and uphold clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional patient service consistently, aiming to exceed patient expectations.
  • Delegate care responsibilities appropriately, ensuring safe and accurate delivery of care through effective supervision.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement processes and evidence-based practices, actively identifying and contributing to enhancements.
  • Adhere to Calvary's policies and relevant health regulations, including the position description, Code of Conduct, and industrial agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with ACQSHC National Standards, guiding the provision of safe and high-quality care.

What You Bring

  • Current AHPRA registration with a valid practicing certificate.
  • Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination unless exempt.

  • Adherence to ACQSHC National Standards and other relevant guidelines.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD points).
  • Demonstrated clinical proficiency in the specialty area as required.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
