Regulatory Intelligence Leader

The Sector Capability and Regulatory Strategy Division sets the strategic direction for regulatory operations informed by high value intelligence, analysis and data.

The Data, Analytics and Intelligence Branch manages and analyses data from the aged care sector and regulatory activities to understand risks and performance for the purposes of prioritising and informing preventative and responsive risk treatments and regulatory decision making.

About the Role

The Regulatory Intelligence Lead leads a team responsible for the development, coordination and provision of high quality intelligence and analysis to inform strategic, operational and tactical planning and operations.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to effectively manage the team consistent with statutory responsibilities and the strategic direction and operational policies of the organisation.
  • Lead and coordinate the successful development of regulatory intelligence capabilities and products to support regulatory activity.
  • Provide high level intelligence analysis on both complex and sensitive issues and identify opportunities, solutions and strategies to address contentious, long-term and emergent issues and provide expertise and counsel across the organisation.
  • Establish and implement effective communication systems, both internal and external to the Commission to ensure stakeholders are consulted and to disseminate information as required.
  • Deliver briefings and other documentation to clearly communicate findings of analysis to influence executive and committee decision making, particularly with regard to the strategic, operational and tactical direction of the Commission.
  • Represent the Branch at meetings and forums to provide expert intelligence, analysis and advice on key regulatory issues.
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Strong experience in engaging with stakeholders in relation to difficult and/or sensitive issues.
  • Excellent research, conceptual thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand and clearly communicate complex analytical findings.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the capability to self-manage multiple competing priorities while working to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including quality assurance ability.
  • Flexibility to work both independently and work with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong data and regulatory intelligence literacy and reporting skills, including structured analytical techniques.
  • Understanding the role of data, intelligence and information by modern regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to manage, develop and lead a team including data and intelligence specialist staff.
Benefits:
  • Salary will be between $118,588 - $135,251 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
  • Only candidates who hold Australian citizenship can apply. Appointment is conditional on successfully completing a national police check.
  • Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
  • Merit Pool established through this selection process may be used to fill this or future ongoing or non-ongoing vacancies.
