This role involves delivering exceptional patient service by responding to inquiries, resolving issues related to patient accounts, and performing financial counseling.
The position requires initiating payment plans, assisting with patient applications, and providing excellent customer experience.
Key aspects of the job include high school level education, three years of experience in healthcare billing and/or follow-up, and strong communication skills.
- High school level course work in English grammar, composition, and basic mathematics is essential.
- Three (3) years of experience in healthcare billing and/or follow-up or hospital customer service are required.
- Light typing is a must.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary for interacting with patients and colleagues.
- Establishing productive working relationships with team members is crucial.
- Making sound decisions and thinking independently are key qualities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve results is important.
- Good analytical skills are necessary for problem-solving and patient account resolution.
- A working knowledge of hospital patient accounting procedures, computers, calculators, and other equipment used in the Patient Financial Services area is required.
- Utilizing standardized PC software is an asset.
- Maintaining confidentiality of patient, employee, and financial information is essential.
- Using the telephone effectively is necessary.
- Population-Specific Competency: Ability to interact with diverse populations, understanding their needs for respect and dignity.
