The RoleThis Melbourne-based role reports to the Head of Enterprise Risk and Assurance and is accountable for leading the Risk Advisory team and coordinating the delivery of risk advisory services to the UniSuper business.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support Risk Advisory Managers in providing valued risk and compliance advice to the business, while safeguarding UniSuper through effective controls assurance and oversight.
- Manage business relationships, implement frameworks, strengthen risk capability, and lead change management, risk, compliance, and insights reporting.
- Stay informed of and communicate business strategies, plans, and change initiatives to ensure robust decision-making practices are embedded in change initiatives to mitigate risks.
- As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), lead a team that advises the business and projects on their key risks and uncertainties and compliance obligations, as well as practical measures to mitigate risks, remediate breaches, implement controls, and track progress.
- Ensure the Risk Advisory team works closely with the Operational Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit teams to ensure a coordinated, cohesive approach to advising, educating, and challenging UniSuper business units and projects of their risk, compliance, third-party, and operational obligations.
- Lead the Risk Advisory Managers in the development and communication of an annual plan for each business unit encompassing a timetable of risk, compliance, audit, and operational resilience engagement.
- Work with business units to assess and regularly review and report against material risk profile.
- Support the operational risk team in the profiling of operational risks and the development and testing of controls to manage those risks.
- Act as a key liaison in the delivery of training, education, and support – ensuring a consistent and efficient engagement model between the business and specialist teams within Risk and Legal.
- Develop and implement a risk-in-change process for all business unit-led change initiatives.
- Provide independent insight into business risks and identify where these are not being managed within appetite.
- Work closely with Line 1 partners to develop and mature risk capability.

- Passion for superannuation and the positive impact it has on members' retirement outcomes.
- Strong professional experience in risk and audit roles, preferably in the superannuation sector.
- Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework governing the superannuation, funds management, advice, or financial services industry.
- A solid understanding of administration and operational aspects within a superannuation, funds management, or financial services environment.
- Relevant qualifications in risk or compliance.
