Job Summary

The role of Environmental Officer is to provide expert guidance and leadership on environmental matters within our Water Services division.

You will play a crucial part in driving initiatives that ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate emerging risks such as pollution, climate change, and emissions reduction, and deliver long-term sustainable outcomes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide authoritative advice on environmental management, sustainability, and risk mitigation to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and manage compliance and risk assessment activities, including climate change, emissions reduction, and drought planning.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans and policies to steer sustainable water management practices.
  • Represent the organization with government agencies, industry panels, and community stakeholders on environmental issues.
  • Design and execute water conservation programs and engagement initiatives across the community.
Key Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification (AQF Level 7 or above) in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Substantial experience in environmental management within the water or waste industry, with in-depth knowledge of environmental management systems, program management, community engagement, risk assessment, auditing, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management and contract administration procedures.
  • Ability to work strategically and utilize analytical skills to develop solutions, policies, and plans to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Demonstrated experience providing leadership, mentoring, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office software and the ability to use geographical information systems.
  • Holding a valid Class C Queensland Driver's Licence.
