About BHP

BHP is a global mining and resources company that prioritizes the safety and well-being of its employees. We strive to create a work environment where everyone can thrive and be at their best every day.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced HSE Lead Business Partner to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction in the delivery of HSS technical and strategic improvement initiatives. You will work closely with project leaders to embed key safety processes, including coaching and monitoring of task-based risk assessments, incident investigations, and visible field leadership.

You will also be responsible for implementing suitable HSE strategies to support project delivery, reviewing and supporting project work packs, and managing, controlling, and monitoring the execution of work that is the accountability of the HSE function.

As an HSE Lead Business Partner, you will have the opportunity to build capability and capacity within HSS through the development, coaching, and alignment of project delivery teams. This is a travel-demanding role that requires adaptability and flexibility to enable the HSS team to grow and meet its potential.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable, and coach others in 'Safety Leadership.' You will also need to influence diverse teams by understanding and managing human factors and behaviors, engage and make informed decisions working effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, and have a strong understanding of Queensland and South Australian work health and safety legislation.

You will also need to have previous experience with HSE event investigations, a strong understanding of databases and database processes, and the ability to identify opportunities to automate HSE processes and reporting. A tertiary degree relevant to HSE or Risk Management is also required.

About Our Process

At BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role. As part of the recruitment process, there are a number of checks which may be conducted to demonstrate applicants' suitability for a role, including police/criminal background checks, medical, drug and alcohol testing, due diligence checks, right to work checks, and/or reference checks.

We are an Equal Opportunity employer that is committed to making BHP a safe and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive and be at their best every day. We are focused on creating a workforce that's more diverse and represents the communities where we work and live.
