Engineering Manager Role

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a group of engineers in building accessibility into the core product experience. The successful candidate will have a strong background in frontend engineering and leadership, with a passion for inclusive design and a willingness to drive significant technical changes.

  • Partner with subject matter experts to develop a roadmap of accessibility features and foundational tools.
  • Guide the delivery of scalable systems that empower all users.
  • Champion engineering quality, team happiness, and sustainable delivery practices.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong commercial experience managing frontend engineers and leading impactful teams.
  • Driven significant technical changes as both a leader and hands-on contributor.
  • Worked cross-functionally to build scalable solutions that benefit multiple teams.
  • Solid frontend engineering experience (JavaScript, TypeScript, React).
  • A curiosity for AI's role in developer workflows.
  • A passion for inclusive design, even if not an accessibility expert.
  • A value on mentorship, feedback, and creating a safe space for engineers to thrive.

About the Team:

The Accessibility Team is part of the Product Platform Group, working towards making Canva the most accessible design tool in the world. We're tackling deep, complex challenges, from building assistive design features to embedding universal design thinking across the product.
