Job Description Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Governance Strategist to join our Asset Servicing Data Governance Team at 023 Northern Trust Company Australia.

In this role, you will assist in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, ensuring our data assets are accurate, secure, and compliant with industry standards.

You will work closely with the Global Head of Data Governance to identify and support data governance initiatives, help establish data management best practices, and contribute to the creation of data policies and procedures.

As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with cross-functional business line teams and be an evangelist for Data Governance and the Asset Servicing Business line across the enterprise.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop tools and processes used to maintain a common data standard across the organization.
  • Assess, manage, and maintain strategies that reduce data redundancy and increase the consistency and confidence of data used for decision-making.
  • Define and deliver data management standards, processes, and controls, as well as content for the creation and maintenance of common data dictionaries.
  • Participate in periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance with data governance policies (includes compliance assessments, monitoring, and control testing).
  • Resolve conflicting priorities among data owners, data consumers, and custodians within the domain's sphere of influence.
  • Drive efficiency and risk mitigation through balancing business value and cost by working with data owners and consumers to deliver an efficient operating model and data architecture.
  • Collaborate with partners across the organization to maintain data governance and data quality structures, ensuring we meet business needs while balancing quality, risk, and cost.
  • Coordinate and implement data quality remediation efforts to ensure data meets the identified enterprise standards.
  • Possess strong technical and/or business knowledge and functional expertise.
  • Carry out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues.
  • Display a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.
Requirements:
  • Strong experience with Data Governance tooling, preferably Collibra.
  • A deep understanding of the Financial Services sector and how different business lines interact.
  • The ability to effectively communicate the role of Data Governance to both business and technical communities within the data domain's sphere of influence.
  • A broad knowledge of the domain's data.
  • An understanding of key business drivers influencing functions that enter, modify, manage, and consume data within the domain.
  • An understanding of all aspects of defining and implementing data quality management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum
