Capital Planning Expertise

This is a standalone role requiring a combination of strategic insight and advanced financial modelling expertise. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to shape how the business evaluates and delivers on capital expenditure, business cases, and project outcomes.

About the Job

You will be responsible for designing and building advanced Excel-based financial models to support business cases, tenders, and strategic decisions. Your primary objective is to partner with Asset Management and Engineering teams to analyse CAPEX proposals and assess investment viability.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive financial models using Excel to evaluate capital expenditures and their potential impact on the business
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify key drivers of investment viability and ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Evaluate post-implementation reviews to assess project value delivery and recommend improvements
  • Present key findings and financial recommendations to senior stakeholders and board members
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning initiatives
  • Take full ownership of your portfolio in a comprehensive, end-to-end capacity
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field
  • CA/CPA qualifications are beneficial but not essential
  • At least 8 years of experience in financial planning, business case development, and capital investment analysis
  • A background in mining, asset-intensive industries, or engineering-led environments is preferred
  • Strong Excel modelling skills, with a passion for creating and managing financial models
  • A commercially astute individual with strong stakeholder engagement skills and a sharp attention to detail when preparing board-level reports
  • A strategic thinker who also enjoys getting hands-on with complex modelling and high-level financial discussions
