We are seeking a dedicated Indigenous Liaison Officer to join our school community. The role acts as a key connection between Indigenous students, their families, the school, and the wider community.

This position provides cultural, educational, and pastoral support to ensure every Indigenous student is given the opportunity to thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building strong relationships with First Nations families and welcoming new families into the school community.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs).
  • Promoting and celebrating Aboriginal culture across the whole school.
  • Assisting with literacy and numeracy support for Indigenous students, both in class and in small group/individual settings.
  • Encouraging regular attendance, supporting transitions, and exploring career pathways with students.
  • Providing pastoral care, encouragement, and guidance to Indigenous students.
  • Working alongside teachers and school leadership to ensure culturally inclusive learning experiences.
Requirements
  • Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
  • A strong commitment to equity, social justice, and reconciliation.
  • Sound skills in literacy and numeracy to assist students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff to support Indigenous students.
  • Experience in engaging families and community, including in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of educational issues affecting Indigenous students.
  • Strong connections with the local Indigenous community.
  • A commitment to promoting and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture within the school.
