Environmental health and safety play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of individuals and communities. In this context, SpaceX is seeking an experienced Sr Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to join their team at the Starship rocket development and test site.

Job Overview:

The ideal candidate will have expertise in both environmental and occupational safety fields, with a strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for conducting detailed safety reviews of complex hazardous operations, leading or assisting in incident investigations, and developing and maintaining compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and other applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with test engineers and technicians to identify potential hazards and implement control measures
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive safety programs, including those related to hazardous materials, confined spaces, and radiation safety
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for fires, spills, and other emergencies
  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, and incidents

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as occupational health and safety or environmental engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety disciplines
  • Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in software applications, such as MS Office and safety management systems
