About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our System Design team at the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in connecting large-scale renewable energy projects to the grid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end connection of large, technically complex projects, providing expert guidance to regional team members on other regional projects.
  • Provide expert technical advice and decision-making on performance standard assessment, power system stability, system strength remediation, registration, and commissioning.
  • Support regulatory changes to recognize and facilitate the integration of large-scale renewable energy projects into the Australian electricity market.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including network service providers, generation developers, and government agencies.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the electricity industry, NEM dispatch process, generator behavior, and network constraints.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven experience in managing generator connection processes and resolving generator and power system performance issues.
