About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at JJ's Waste & Recycling. As a Principal Environment Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring our business operates in compliance with environmental regulations and maintains a strong commitment to sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management systems to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and regulatory approvals.
  • Prepare and negotiate environmental approvals, applications, and conditions to facilitate the establishment of new or expanded facilities or to improve operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular site reviews to monitor compliance with legislative requirements and build knowledge and capability of operational teams.
  • Prepare responses to regulatory notices and external audits.
  • Investigate and advise on environmental incidents.
  • Develop corporate communications relating to changes in laws, government policy, or processes.
  • Ensure the business upholds and maintains core values of integrity, safety, and quality service.
  • Travel to sites nationally, as required.
Requirements
  • Qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or Management.
  • Proven experience implementing and maintaining environmental compliance frameworks and systems.
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in a similar role within the utilities, resource recovery, or waste management sector.
  • Proven experience in the practical application of legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationally on a regular basis.
