We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at JJ's Waste & Recycling. As a key member of our environmental management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring our operations comply with all relevant environmental regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Environmental Management Systems: Develop, update, and implement environmental management systems to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and regulatory approvals.
- Prepare and Negotiate Environmental Approvals: Prepare applications and negotiate conditions relevant to environmental approvals to facilitate the establishment of new or expanded facilities or to improve the efficiency of our operations.
- Conduct Site Reviews and Audits: Conduct regular site reviews to monitor the Company's compliance with legislative requirements and build the knowledge and capability of our operational teams.
- Respond to Regulatory Notices and Audits: Prepare responses to regulatory notices and external audits.
- Investigate and Advise on Environmental Incidents: Investigate and advise on any responses to environmental incidents.
- Develop Corporate Communications: Develop corporate communications relating to changes in laws, government policy, or processes.
- Ensure Business Integrity and Quality Service: Ensure the business upholds and maintains our core values of integrity, safety, and quality service in our work.
- Travel to Sites Nationally: Travel to sites nationally, as required.
- Qualifications: A qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or Management.
- Experience: Proven experience implementing and maintaining environmental compliance frameworks and systems. Minimum 7+ years' experience in a similar role within the utilities, resource recovery, or waste management sector.
- Skills: Proven experience in the practical application of legislation, standards, and codes of practice. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to travel nationally on a regular basis.
