About the Role
The Environmental Health Specialist works in the Public Health team to administer and implement legislative requirements contained within the Food Act, Public Health & Wellbeing Act, Environment Protection Act, and Tobacco Act as delegated by the Council.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct food safety assessments of registered food businesses.
- Apply Acts, associated regulations, and codes to relevant premises through inspections, sampling, advice, and education.
- Investigate and report complaints received from the public and take necessary remedial action.
- Issue notices and the required enforcement action to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
About You
We are looking for a collaborative and flexible team member with a passion for public and environmental health, and who thrives on working with local communities.
Requirements
- Degree in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent.
- Current driver's license.
- Experience in local government is ideal but not required.
