Accountant Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced management accountant to join our team in the Newcastle office. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing monthly management accounts and reporting for a mine site, as well as stewardship of the general ledger. They will utilise business intelligence systems to prepare insightful reporting and understand business performance.


This includes completing month-end processes, annual budgeting and mid-year forecasts using enterprise resource planning systems. The role will also involve generating reporting and insights through business intelligence systems such as IBM Planning and Analytics. Additionally, the role will support auditors with providing information and assist with providing information during audit processes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Complete all management accounting and financial reporting, including monthly mine site reporting and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support audit requirements for multiple mines during hard close, half and full year audit processes, and joint venture accounting and reporting.
  • Stewardship of the general ledger for company codes, ensuring correct allocation of expenses.
  • Develop expertise in Pulse (ERP) and TM1 (BI software).
  • Involvement in testing of system updates.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor of Commerce / Accounting / Business or related field.
  • CPA or CA membership.
  • At least three years management accounting experience and mine accounting experience.
  • Systems experience (TM1 Planning Analytics, Pulse).
  • A dynamic, driven and energetic individual with a positive attitude.
