Job Description:

Our client, a leading Australian company in the meat industry, is seeking a highly skilled Meat Inspector to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. As a Meat Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of meat products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspecting Animals: Conduct thorough inspections of animals to identify product quality issues and provide advice to producers.
  • Auditing and Monitoring: Audit and monitor quality procedures at food handling and processing facilities to ensure compliance with required standards.
  • Testing and Quality Control: Test samples of produce for quality, size, and purity to ensure they meet industry standards.
  • Hygiene and Safety: Ensure that required standards of hygiene are observed at storage, processing, and packing facilities, as well as in transport vehicles.
  • Advising and Communicating: Advise primary producers on economic aspects of disease eradication and inform producers and the general public of the health implications of diseases and impurities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Advise on the identification of pests and diseases and on regulations pertaining to grading, packing, and loading of products.
  • Import and Export: Examine imported animals to ensure they meet industry standards.
  • Enforcement and Mitigation: May initiate or assist in legal action to enforce regulations and identify and mitigate potential health risks associated with meat products.
Requirements:
  • Certificate IV in Meat Inspection: Required for Meat Inspector position.
  • University Degree and Work Experience: For Meat Inspector Trainee position, a university degree in Vet, Animal Science, Biosecurity, or Food Processing Technology, and 12 months of work experience as a meat worker in Australia are given top priority.
Other Skills:
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work with a team and/or independently with less supervision.
  • Language Skills: Good English language skills, with a good English test score being an advantage (minimum PTE score 36 or IELTS 5.0).
