Job Description

Role Overview

The Graduate Humanities Teacher will be responsible for teaching and developing Humanities programs for students in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for teaching and learning, and be committed to delivering high-quality education to students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging and challenging Humanities programs for students
  • Teach and assess students in a range of Humanities subjects, including History, Geography, and Civics and Citizenship
  • Monitor and report on student progress, and provide feedback to students and parents
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the development of the Humanities department
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs

Requirements

  • Provisional or full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
  • Completed a Bachelor of Education or related degree
  • Strong knowledge of Humanities curriculum and pedagogy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Selection Criteria

  • SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills
  • SC2: Demonstrated capacity to implement high-impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth
  • SC3: Demonstrated capacity to monitor and assess student learning, and use data to inform teaching practice and provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents
  • SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, and capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community to support student learning, wellbeing, and engagement
  • SC5: Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, and capacity to reflect upon practice and engage in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching
